Tradify vs ServiceM8: which one fits your trade business?
The two biggest names in Australian job management software, compared straight: what they cost, what they run on, and what each one is genuinely good at. And if neither pricing model fits, there's a third option: jobmate247 is A$35 a month flat, with no per-user fees and no job credits.
The pricing, at a glance
| Product | Pricing |
|---|---|
| Tradify | From $48 to $62 AUD per user per month ex GST across Lite, Pro and Plus plans, as sighted August 2026. Every staff member needs a paid seat. |
| ServiceM8 | From $29 to $349 AUD per month GST inclusive across Starter to Premium Plus, as published August 2026. Unlimited users, with jobs metered by monthly credits. |
| jobmate247 | A$35 a month flat, GST inclusive. Unlimited jobs, unlimited clients, works in the browser on any phone. |
Two very different meters
Tradify meters people. Every user needs a paid seat, so a solo operator on Lite pays $48 ex GST a month, and a two-person crew on Pro pays $104. One quirk worth knowing: Tradify's website shows prices in US dollars wherever you browse from, and the Australian figure is only confirmed once you sign up.
ServiceM8 meters work. Every new job card uses one of your plan's monthly job credits: Starter includes 50, Growing includes 150, and unused credits expire at the end of each month. A busy month can push you up a plan; a quiet month costs the same.
jobmate247 meters nothing. $35 a month flat, however many jobs you book and however busy the month gets.
What you'd actually pay
| Scenario | Tradify | ServiceM8 | jobmate247 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo, about 40 jobs a month | Lite: $48 ex GST | Starter: $29 | $35 flat |
| Solo, busy patch, about 60 jobs | Lite: $48 ex GST | Growing: $79 | $35 flat |
| Two on the tools, about 120 jobs | Pro: $104 ex GST | Growing: $79 | $35 flat |
The honest reading: ServiceM8 is the cheapest option for a solo operator staying under 50 jobs a month. The moment volume or crew grows, the two meters start ticking in different directions, and the flat price stops moving at all.

Where Tradify might suit you better
Honesty matters more than a sale. Tradify has a full-featured Android app as well as iOS, live two-way sync with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks, staff timesheets, purchase orders, and materials tracking with supplier price-list imports. If you're running a bigger crew with office staff and you want each job scheduled to a named worker inside the app, Tradify's per-seat model is built for exactly that.
Where ServiceM8 might suit you better
ServiceM8's iOS field app is genuinely polished, with offline access for black spots, built-in SMS, online bookings, electronic forms and compliance certificates, asset management and staff GPS tracking. Its free plan, one user with 30 jobs a month, is also a real option for a very quiet side business. If your crew runs iPhones and you want those extras, ServiceM8's higher tiers do things jobmate247 doesn't do yet.
Where jobmate247 fits in
jobmate247 is for the solo operator or small crew who looked at both meters and wanted neither. $35 a month flat, GST inclusive: quotes from your own price book, scheduling with calendar invites, deposit and progress invoicing, client pay links with PayID, licence details on every document, and clean Xero and MYOB export. It runs in the browser on any phone, so the Android-or-iPhone question disappears. Try it free, import your clients from a CSV, and keep your evenings.

Common questions
- How much does Tradify cost in Australia?
- As sighted August 2026: Tradify has three plans billed per user per month: Lite at $48, Pro at $52 and Plus at $62 AUD, ex GST. Tradify's public website displays prices in US dollars, with the Australian figure confirmed at sign-up. Add-ons include an Instant Website at $19 a month and SMS messages at 20 cents each. Every user needs a paid seat.
- How much does ServiceM8 cost in Australia?
- As published August 2026: a free plan for one user with 30 jobs a month, then Starter at $29, Growing at $79, Premium at $149 and Premium Plus at $349 AUD a month, GST inclusive. Paid plans include unlimited users. Every plan meters jobs with monthly credits: 50 on Starter, 150 on Growing, 500 on Premium: and unused credits expire at the end of each month.
- Which is cheaper: Tradify or ServiceM8?
- It depends on crew size and job volume. A solo operator under 50 jobs a month is cheapest on ServiceM8 Starter at $29. Add staff and ServiceM8 pulls ahead, because its users are unlimited while Tradify charges for every seat. Run high job volume with a small crew and Tradify can win, because its seats are fixed while ServiceM8 meters every job. jobmate247 sidesteps the maths entirely: $35 flat either way.
- Does ServiceM8 work on Android?
- The full ServiceM8 app is built for iOS, and ServiceM8 recommends iPhones for main field technicians. Android users get ServiceM8 Lite, which covers core technician features. Tradify has a full-featured Android app. jobmate247 runs in the browser on any phone, so there is nothing to install on either platform.
- Does Tradify charge per user?
- Yes. Every person in a Tradify account needs their own paid seat at the plan rate. ServiceM8 takes the opposite approach: unlimited users, but your jobs are metered instead. jobmate247 does neither: one flat price with no seats and no job credits.
- Is there a flat-price alternative to Tradify and ServiceM8?
- Yes. jobmate247 is A$35 a month flat, GST inclusive, with unlimited jobs, quotes, invoices and clients. It covers quoting from a price book, scheduling with calendar invites, deposit and progress invoicing, client pay links and Xero/MYOB export, and it runs in the browser on any phone.
